An interesting prologue

I like to play around and write some prologue ideas for horror/thriller stories...here is one of my most recent...

Prologue


            Why had she insisted on coming alone this time? She recounted her determined speech to her parents about needing space, quiet, and the freedom to write in peace. Perhaps the beautiful scenery at her families camp would inspire her and break free of her demoralizing writers block. (Branches snap) Clasping her hand against her mouth she bit her tongue to cut back her scream. She strained hard to hear his footsteps following. Frantically she darted through the trees wary that her own steps crunching on the twigs and fallen leaves would alert him to her location. Branches swiped at her face smudged with tears, sweat and blood. Her tongue caressed the open wound at the side of her mouth and she tasted her own bitter blood. Wincing at the sting she trudged on through the darkness with outreached arms. Without the moonlight she was blinded by the eerie darkness and no longer knew if she was on the right path. The sound of her own footsteps made her jump as she tripped over the unseen roots.  Even nature had turned against her tonight. She stumbled and steadied herself when she hit a solid obstruction in her path. Swearing under her breath, Emily's heart surged when she felt the familiar texture of the log cabin under her bruised hands. Here it was! Hope soared through her harmonizing with a abrupt charge of adrenaline. Her cell phone was inside, perhaps now her only chance at survival. Holding in her breath she forced her gaze out into the traitorous trees that once canopied her most treasured summer vacations. It was futile as she couldn't see out in that darkness. She listened for any sounds however it was stillest of nights. Even the nocturnal creatures seemed to loath and fear the presence in the woods with them, with her
