On a more serious note...

What are you REALLY Eating?

I have to admit that in the beginning I was quite a skeptic when a friend (thank you Jennifer!) told me to look up www.infowars.com and check out Alex Jone's information on GMO's. Some of you out there may have already heard of this before and just glanced over it. So let me tell you what exactly is a GMO and why I feel it is IMPERATIVE for the world's citizens to understand it as well. It not only affects you, but the futures of your children and grandchildren.  A GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organisms. Now what does that entail exactly and how are YOU affected? GMO's are most frequently utilized for crop plants produced for human and/or animal consumption. To do so, they are using their  latest molecular biology "techniques." Plants are being modified in a laboratory to increase resistance to herbicides and to supposedly increase nutritional content. The manufacturers of GMO's counter that they are actually creating numerous benefits such as pest resistance, cold tolerance, herbicide and disease resistance, and drought tolerance. While they are busy painting a lovely picture, their genetic engineering is causing harm to all human and animal life which consume it.

For years environmental activists, public interest groups, scientists, government officials, and even religious groups have been fighting against the manufacturing of GMO's, They argue that while agribusiness is making a fortune they are in effect neglecting to inform the public about the potential hazards. When you enter a organic market and a conventional market purchasing the same type of  apple, you will immediately notice a size and coloration difference between the two. GMO's produce crops rapidly in half the time it takes for an organic plantation to produce their own. I hope I am not too presumptuous in my belief  that we can all agree that something isn't quite right about this "process." To generalize the criticisms against GMO's we have three categories: environmental hazards, human health risks, and economic concerns. In the debate with environmental hazards we have three particular issues: gene transfer to non-target species, the growth of pesticide resistance and effectiveness, and unintended harm to multiple other organisms. Gene transfer can easily occur through cross pollination which can be carried easily by wind, animals, humans, and insects. As an example, corn from field A is a mass crop produced using GMO's. Insects may cross pollinate from field A to fields B and C, or even a field K in another county. We all can distinguish the undesired effects of mutations and/ or invading plant or animal life. Adversely the "benefit" seen by the opposing side is that of pesticide resistance. Really? Okay, to break it down to an easily understood scenario...taking a medicine for a prolonged period subsequently affects the body in building a natural immunity to it. That way the medicine is no longer beneficial to the taker. Insects themselves can acquire and build immunities for these so-called pest-resistant crops. Not to mention the negative effect these GMO's may have on the insect itself...genetic mutation anyone? Oh, I have another great one for all you health nuts out there that love your "healthy" soy products. Soybeans and corn are the top two most widely grown crops making up 82% of all GM crops harvested. I guess this writing also pertains to you! Allergies caused by GM foods can also pose a huge threat to the community because they can produce unknown reactions. Scientists cannot even start to unravel the chief health effects human and animal life will endure but they have started the investigations. So far GMO's have been connected to thousands of toxic and allergic reactions, sick, sterile, and dead livestock, and virtually there is damage to every vital organ of all lab/test animals. The FDA is continually covering up the cases in which humans and animal life are harmed with GM food. Check out this link to an article depicting that very fact:

I'll make it easier on you and write some of the known effects of consuming a diet consisting of GM food:

- Major organ and liver disease and inflammations
- Reproductive failure and high infant mortality rates
- Severe allergic and/or toxic reactions
- Sterility in males
- Farmers reporting on livestock death and sterility rates are climbing
- Irritable bowel syndrome and numerous gastrointestinal issues
- Lengthy list of headaches, lethargy, nausea, skin rashes, burning and itchy skin, eczema, acne
- Severe weight gain in some cases
- And my favorite: CANCER

Why is cancer my favorite? Because it has claimed the lives of my mother, my grandmother, my great-grandmother and the list continues. My mother was an awesome researcher and writer. She would present new issues to me on a daily basis including GMO's and injected hormones and even the ingredients in modern day vaccinations. When I was in the USA for a period of 9 months, I was active, working, and dieting and yet somehow I still managed to gain 64 whopping pounds from eating SALADS. Since I left the country I have lost 70 pounds and I now eat regularly and large portions in a country which does NOT employ the "amazing" workings of GM foods. Explain that to me? I was lethargic, sick, gaining weight, dizzy, and my stomach was not properly digesting anything. I know that the salads I was eating consistently were produced under the influence of GMO's and my body paid the price. My question to you is, what are you going to do about it? Why does everyone ignore this red flag and shove it under the proverbial rug? This is not just about YOU! It is our community, our parents, children, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, grand-kids, nieces, and nephews and COUNTRY that is suffering the effects from GMO's!  And buying ORGANIC is not solving the predicament. We still raise the issue of cross pollination which can occur any time and not every farm will be exempt from that possibility. Those health risks are detrimental to living out our daily lives and possibly even claimed the life of someone you loved. It is time to seek out the knowledge yourself and start asking questions.
