Greetings! Hmmm...perhaps before diving straight into random
ramblings, I should give a little background info in my opening post! My name
is Karen. I am a 31 year old mom to two fabulously inspiring (and tiring)
children; ages 12 and 7 this year. I am also currently expecting surprise #3 in
April! (Yay?!) No, seriously, I adore my temperamental duo. Kareem looks like
an EXACT freaking replica of his father...so not exaggerating! However, he is a
lot like me in personality, a born introvert (but a natural prankster....muahahahaha!.)
Layla is my 7 year old "Diva." A nickname affectionately given to her
by her grandpa. She is all girl-sassy, smart, and unpredictable...in other
words: DEVIOUS.
Interesting Fact #1: My husband, and my two children share the
same zodiac sign- CANCER
Yes, weep for me now, dear people! I am a Sagittarius. I am also
at my wits end with this moody trio. Luckily (or....not?) my soon-to-arrive
little bundle will be a Taurus. Unless he somehow alters his course and
decides to pop into this world without the method of induction. In that case he
could potentially end up as an Aries. I was super elated to know that
"Adam" would not be another Cancer...but then reality slapped me
upside the head. Taurus and Aries aren't much better! However, I do believe
little Adam is meant to be "my little protector."
Interesting and intimidating Fact #2: With the HUGE age gap
between this little surprise bundle and his older siblings- Kareem will be
ENTERING COLLEGE at the same time this munchkin will be entering Kindergarten.
Once again, I will emphasize how much of a surprise it was to find out about
this pregnancy! Stay tuned for a later blog post on how I told my husband and
his hilarious reaction!
My husband and I have been married for 13 years (Wow!) He is an
Egyptian- and I am a native New Yorker. I've spent almost 10 years of those 13
in Egypt. I used to teach at an American school in Cairo until my health
continued going down the drain. I have POTS syndrome (will explain later)
and it is a awful hindrance in my daily activities. Since then, I have basically
become a "Domestic Goddess." So much of a more endearing term than
"housewife." Since discovering that I was pregnant and some family
issues arose back home in NY- it was time to come home. Now here I am! I went
from 112 degree temps down to -11 and I LOVE IT.
I hope you'll enjoy my future ramblings in my blog "Labor of
Love." Don't hold me to any potential spelling or grammatical errors. I
blame it on the dreaded "pregnancy brain" which has been my
affliction for the past 7 months. I feel like a parasite has attached itself to
the core of my memory and basic functions and is sipping away the
"smart" juice and leaving behind a empty casing. I do pray it returns
to normal before I glance in the mirror and ask, "who are you?"
Until next time...
